Edmeé Hymel Baird

Edmeé Hymel Baird was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 22, 1932 and left this earth to be with the Lord on December, 13, 2021 at the age of 89 at her home after a courageous battle with lymphoma. She was the second daughter of the late Roland J. Hymel, Sr. and Mildred Waguespack Hymel. She attended Mater Dolorosa Catholic elementary and graduated from Dominican High School in New Orleans.Her first job as a young woman was as a secretary for Falstaff Brewery. She married the love of her life, the late John Joseph Baird, in Laon, France in 1953 as he was serving with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers there. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2018. During the late 1950s, the couple moved to Fort Worth, where they became charter members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church of White Settlement, TX.Edmeé was a true servant of the Lord, working in the Altar Society, volunteering at St. Theresa’s Children’s home, and fostering several children. She was well loved by St. Peter’s parishioners and touched many lives with her charitable donations. Edmeé founded the prayer-line at St. Peter’s parish which she continued to run for 20 years, converting it over to the computer. She contributed and typed much of the history published in St. Peter’s Anniversary Book.She was the beloved mother of two daughters, Dr. Jeanette Vaughan and Susan Carter, a U.S.A.F. veteran. She was the adored grandmother to five, Lt. Commander Berry Vaughan, U.S.N. (ret) and his wife Heather, Lt. Commander Ashton Vaughan, U.S.N. and wife Nicole, Paige Vaughan and her partner, Lauren Weaber, Lizzie Crooks and her husband Jonathan, Adam Carter and his partner Mary Cote and the late Harrison Vaughan. She is survived by her daughters, Susan’s wife, Lori Holman and nine great-grandchildren, Robert and Sarah Vaughan, Carlos and Katelyn Sullivan, and Romeo, Zadyn, Colton, Hunter, and Evelyn Crooks. She was one of six siblings being predeceased by her sisters, Marie Hymel Weidner and Kathleen Hymel Shirer, as well as brother Roland J. Hymel Jr. She is survived by two siblings, Elizabeth Hymel Eckert and Patrick Hymel Sr.
