Jaymes was born on May 12, 1949, in Fort Worth to Grace and Harry Burr. A proud 1968 graduate of Paschal High School, he remained deeply connected to the Fort Worth community throughout his life.

Jaymes was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with stories, laughter, and steady guidance.

A man of deep and enduring faith, Jaymes was a founding member of both Christ Chapel Bible Church and River Point Church, where he faithfully served in numerous capacities. He had a passion for theology and history—especially Civil War, World War II, Israeli, and church history—and could often be found engrossed in a book or sharing insights with friends and family.

Jaymes was also active in Young Life during his early years and remained committed to global mission work throughout his life. His dedication to service took him around the world, not just as a missionary, but as a master playground builder—constructing safe and joyful places for children in communities near and far.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jaymes is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy Klint Burr; children, Kristen Powell and her husband Jim, Michael Burr and his wife Kara, and Katie Privett and her husband Matthew; grandchildren, Jack, Thomas, Jane, and Andrew Powell; Karoline, Kennedy, and Harrison Burr; and Mia Privett; his brother, Harry Boyd Burr and his wife Susan; along with a host of extended family and lifelong friends.

Jaymes leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and unwavering love—a life well-lived in service to others.
