John R. Garland Sr.

John Richard Garland Sr., 68, of Fort Worth passed away on May 9, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a kind-hearted and humble man, loyal and adventuresome with a constant smile that was recognized by all. John was born on November 12, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Arlington Heights High School before going on to earn a degree from TCU.

John owned Northern Ice Company for many years and was also the owner of Wender (formerly Garland) Supply Company. He was a successful businessman who was respected by his peers and employees.

John was a man of strong faith and worshipped at Christ Chapel Bible Church. He was a loving husband to his soulmate, Chris, a devoted father to his sons, John Richard Jr. (Avery) and Rex Campbell (Jay), and the number one fan of his grandsons John Richard III, Cooper, and Parker. John also leaves behind his sister, Jan Metcalf (Keith), and brother Randy, and countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Dorothy Garland.

His joys through the years included riding motorcycles, coaching youth sports, and skiing with his family. His beloved border collies & shelties could often be seen in tow.

A Memorial Service for John will be held at Christ Chapel Bible Church on May 17 at 11 AM followed by a reception.
