Sam Perry Murray

May 31, 1941 — September 22, 2023

Sam P. Murray entered into God's kingdom at his home in Fort Worth, Texas on September 22nd, 2023. He was 82 years old and left a legacy of love, words of wisdom, and kindness to all.

Sam is survived by his dedicated wife of almost 59 years, Beatriz Murray; son Sam L. Murray and his wife Julie; daughter Elena Hampton and her husband Steve; grandchildren: Christina Beavers and her husband Aaron, Allison Orshalick and her husband Jeff, Sam E. Murray, Emily Kersey and her husband Kameron, and Luke Murray; great-grandchildren: Noah Beavers, Jonah Beavers, and Mia Orshalick; sister-in-law Elena de San Nicolas, brother-in-law Miguel de San Nicolas, and their families.

Sam was born on May 31st, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas to S.H. and Roceil Murray. He was an only child to very loving parents. He had a happy childhood with many good memories of being with extended family and friends. He attended the New Mexico Military Institute, followed by Paschal High School. Sam proudly and voluntarily served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in Turkey, Morocco, and various U.S. bases. Later he became a business owner and rancher.

He always enjoyed time with family, friends, listening to a variety of music genres, traveling, and looking through family photos. Sam never met a stranger, enjoyed meeting new people, and discovering the world around him. He was thoughtful, gentle, kind, humble, honest, funny, patriotic, loving, a friend, and one-of-a-kind.

Sam cherished his wife, Beatriz, and they shared many wonderful years together. In his final years Parkinson’s, that terrible disease, had unfortunately taken a hold of his body and each year became more difficult than the one before.Through his long battle with Parkinson’s, Beatriz selflessly stood by his side as his primary caregiver to the end.

His family invites you to join them in celebrating his wonderful and selfless life. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16—”For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

He will be missed, but the family is comforted knowing he has gone to his eternal reward and is now resting in peace with his Heavenly Father, and talking it up with family and friends who have gone before him. RIP!

The Murray family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and aide Patricia at Vitas; his caregivers from Comfort Keepers, Judy and Susan; his caregiver Marta, all of whom took such good care of him. Also, his grandsons Sam and Luke who provided the necessary muscle at times and who took wonderful care of their grandfather. Granddaughter Allison and her husband Jeff, who together with their infant daughter Mia, brought him a lot of comfort.
